Meet Our Team

Ashley Friesen

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor &
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor

My work is grounded in helping people make sense of their lived experiences that continue to impact present-day relationships, identity, and behaviors. I prioritize understanding your unique story through a lens of curiosity, respect, and cultural humility. Throughout therapy, I assist client in cultivating attunement to themselves, strengthening their ability to notice emotional signals, clarify core values, and move toward choices that honor who they are. I teach skills to reduce re-engagement in unhelpful and harmful behaviors, creating patterns of change.

I draw from several modalities: Attachment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Family Systems, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and client-centered approaches.

Together, we can work to actively shape the story you want to continue telling—one rooted in meaning, belonging, and truth.

Client Population: 13 years and older; individuals, couples, and families.

Education: Masters of Arts in Clinical Counseling and Addiction Studies from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

Mike Friesen

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

I’m an LPCC and soon-to-be licensed supervisor who believes the most effective part of therapy is the relationship between client and therapist, and I work intentionally to create a space that feels safe, genuine, and supportive. I work with individuals and couples navigating relationship trauma, religious trauma, depression, and the challenges of young adulthood, and I also hold a second master’s degree in theology, which informs my work with clients exploring faith, spirituality, or the impact of religious systems. My approach is warm, conversational, and collaborative, drawing from Attachment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Existential Therapy to help clients understand patterns, build practical tools, and create meaningful change.

Client Population: 18 years and older; individuals and couples. No court ordered treatment services provided.

Education: Masters of Arts in Counseling and Masters of Arts in Theological Studies from Crown College.
